Honoring Our Past, Investing in Our Future: A Night to Celebrate and Support Excellence

The Loveland Schools Foundation proudly presents an inspiring evening honoring the exceptional achievements of these distinguished Loveland Schools alumni and faculty.

The Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients are George Litteral, class of 1979, and Nick Jackson, class of 1998.

The Distinguished Faculty Award Recipients are Steve Kenyon and Linda Slusher.

At the senior awards ceremony in April, $28,000 in scholarships were awarded through the Foundation. We congratulate the following seniors:

Distinguished Faculty Award

On June 30th, 2024, Linda Slusher retired after serving as Executive Director of the LSF after 28 years. Linda has worked as part of the Foundation for 30 years. At the Loveland City School District opening day for staff meeting on August 13th, 2024, Linda received the first Distinguished Faculty Award. She received a standing ovation for her dedication to Loveland Schools, through teaching and the Foundation for 60 years. Congratulations Linda!

Welcome Colette Ledford!

Starting July 1, 2024, Colette Ledford, Class of ‘75, accepted the role of Executive Director. You can read more about her and all other board members on the website.

Foundation Open House

August was a big month as we launched our new website with a goal to be more visible within the schools and the Loveland community. On August 10th, Loveland Schools Foundation held a fundraising event, hosted by Pat and Lynn Mangan. It was a huge success and gave us the opportunity to meet and greet those with interest in being on our board or a committee. We were also able to speak about the Foundation and the programs we provide such as Staff Grants and Scholarships so prospective donors would know how their donations are used.

Share your talents!

September began by adding several new board members, most who have children or grandchildren currently in the district or who have graduated. We also have many new committee members for things such as community outreach and fundraising, alumni engagement, communications and event planning. We’d love for you to take a look at our different committees and find a place to use your talents!

Staff Grant Awards

October was Staff Grant month! All staff members of the LCSD were invited to apply for a grant awarding up to $500 each. We awarded 32 grants totaling over $12,000. Mike Broadwater, school superintendent, along with several Foundation board members, went to each winner's classroom or department to give them the good news. There are several great pictures on our website. Take a look! This really shows how donations are used to enhance and support our staff districtwide.

Honoring Ron DeWitt

In late November, we were sad to hear of the passing of Ron DeWitt. After serving in the US Air Force, Ron started as a teacher and coach in the Loveland City School District. Eventually he moved into administration as an Elementary Principal, High School Principal and Superintendent. We are still seeing the effects of his leadership and dedication to Loveland Schools. We are grateful to the DeWitt family for asking for donations for the Loveland Schools Foundation in his memory.

Grandparents & Great Influencers Day

December is the perfect month to celebrate people who mean the most to you. Students from each school invited their grandparents or a special person who has been an influence in their lives, to the second annual Grandparents and Great Influences Day. These events took place throughout the month and have been greatly attended. Smiles were everywhere, pictures were taken and a good time was had by all! May you be able to spend time with those who mean the most to you over the holiday. The Loveland Schools Foundation wishes all of you a happy and healthy new year.
