Steve Federman

Steve Federman has been teaching for 41 years, the last 22 years at the Loveland Intermediate School.  He summarized himself as a creative, energetic and passionate elementary teacher that develops hands-on curriculum in alignment with diverse learning styles and abilities.  While a teacher at Loveland, Steve coached LMS cross country for 10 years, facilitated Runner’s Club, Science Club and Student Council.  He was the Science Department head for several years and presented at LIS Science Day.  Steve has a passion for teaching students the best way to learn in academics through learning strategies as well as developing self esteem, life skills and social skills. He achieves this through strong relationships with students and parents.   

Steve graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1981 with a double major.  He has a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology.  He received his Masters of Education from Miami in 1987.  

Steve Federman has received many honors through the years.  A few are listed below.

  • A recipient of the Earthwatch Fellowship in 2002

  • LIS Teacher of the year 2001

  • Ohio Chemical Council/BP Teacher of the 2000

Steve has been married to Bethany for 28 years.  She is an art teacher at LMS. 

They have two amazing children, Ben, 26, who works at Great American and Claire, 20, who is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education from UC.  Steve and his family have a hard time saying no to rescue animals.  They currently have a dog named Charlie and a cat named Sadie.  He enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, walking, reading and travelling.

Although Steve is retired, he works as an Ad-hoc Educator at iSPACE where he teaches science, math and technology to students K-12.  Steve’s commitment to the education of young people is second to none.
