Read-A-Thon Reading Challenge

Week 1 – Wake Up Your Reading Brain

  • Read a book in your favorite genre

  • Read outside (porch, park, under a tree, etc.) for at least 30 minutes

  • Read with someone (sibling, parent, friend or even read-aloud to a pet/stuffed animal)

Week 2 – Try Something New

  • Read a book from a genre you almost never choose (examples: mystery, historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, sports, humor, etc.)

  • Read poetry (a collection, novel in verse, etc.)

  • Read a book that’s way too young for your age

Week 3 – Worlds & Windows

  • Read a book with a main character who is very different from you

  • Read a book set in another country or another time period

  • Read something that made you feel strongly (hopeful, sad, happy, inspired, etc.)

Week 4 – Your Choice Celebration Week

  • Re-read a favorite chapter from any book you have already read

  • Read whatever you want for 3+ days in a row

  • Read a book series installment (next book in a series you love)

  • Read something super long
